Traditional ankle bells and music form the backdrop for Pranita's interpretations of history, mythology and legends of this mysterious nation. Children will see how moods are interpreted through dance.
In Pranita's workshops and residencies, students learn that when Christopher Columbus first came to America in 1492, he mistakenly thought he had arrived in India. When Columbus landed in America, thinking it was India, the name "Indian" and later "American Indian" was given to the native people. Today it is considered more appropriate to refer to them as "Native Americans."
School Assemblies, Community Performances, Workshops, Master Classes, and Residencies are available.
"The Kalapriya Dance Company is thoroughly professional and deliver a quality product, are very organized and a delight to work with. The residency program they devised exposed the children to a culture very different from their own, and made the journey joyful and fun. The evening performance was excellent and first-rate."

"Pranita's performance of Bharat Natyam is exquisite and enchanting. She has the rare skill of being able to judge an audience based on their age and developmental level and then adapting her performance to them."
